Capt. Jaime Boyle

Great for Spanish Mackerel

Boylermaker albie flyB

Designed by noted Martha's Vineyard charter boat captain Jaime Boyle, and perfected aboard his boat, the "Boylermaker", this fly has been a consistent producer for, bonito, false albacore, and striped bass. This fly is an excellent choice for areas where small baitfish like silversides or bay anchovy are the dominant prey species, and the non-fouling design insures perfect presentations every time when making quick casts to fast-running fish.  Down in South Carolina they have proven quite effective on Spanish Mackerel.

Capt. Jaime Boyle offers the finest in fly and light tackle fishing on Martha’s Vineyard and its surrounding waters.  Targeting striped bass, bluefish, bonito, false albacore and bluefin tuna.

Capt Jamie BoyleJaime’s talents as a guide and fly tier have been recognized in innumerous magazine articles and several books. His Vineyard Squid fly pattern was the focus of an entire chapter in Secrets of the Saltwater Fly (Little Brown and Company, 1996) and he is well known as the creator of the famed and versatile Bonito Bunny and also the Red Can Squid. Jaime was named Northeast Guide Of The Year by The Orvis Company in 2000. Most recently, he was featured on the cover of the July 2006 issue of SaltWater Sportsman magazine.

Discussion about the Boylermaker Albie fly on the GoFishSC Forum

"The Boylermaker Albie fly sold on saltwater flies is tied on the Tiemco 800S hook but I believe these hooks have been discontinued; size #4.  To make it more appropriate for Spanish consider a  #1 hook.  This fly is approximately 2 3/4 inches (7 cm) long."

For Spanish use chartreuse over white with a #1 hook
